Study Abroad

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

Sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program offers grants to U.S. undergraduates with limited financial means, in order to diversify the population of students going abroad. This annual competitive award is given to a limited number of recipients interested in studying or interning abroad.

Boren Awards Scholarship

The annual scholarships of the National Security Education Program provides fundings to undergraduate students from the U.S. to study less popularly studied, minority world languages. Promoting linguistic and cultural immersion, this award program aims to support students focusing on language studies that are critical to U.S. national security. Boren Scholars can choose to study abroad in their country of choice, excluding nations within Western Europe as well as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In exchange for funding, scholars must commit to working in the federal government for at least a year after graduation.

Minority Scholarship in Classics and Classical Archaeology

The Committee on Minority Scholarships of the Society for Classical Studies (SCS) invites applications from minority undergraduate students for a scholarship to be awarded for the summer. The purpose of the scholarship is to further students’ preparation in classics or classical archaeology with opportunities not available during the school year. Eligible proposals might include (but are not limited to) participation in classical summer programs or field schools in Italy, Greece, Egypt, etc., or language training at institutions in the U.S, Canada, or Europe. Candidates will be judged on the basis of (a) their academic qualifications, especially in classics, including demonstrated ability in at least one classical language, or in fields that prepare a student to become an archaeologist, (b) the quality of their proposal for study particularly as preparation for plans after graduation, and (c) financial need. The application must be supported by a member of the SCS, and a statement must be included indicating that this is an appropriate candidate for the purposes of this scholarship. Under the classification “minority” we include African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Native-American, and Pacific-Islander American students. Fund for Education Abroad

The Fund for Education abroad prides itself on providing accessible scholarships to students who are traditionally underrepresented. Students who identify as minority, first-generation, community college students, and more will be given preference in the application process. FEA also partners with many study abroad organizations, such as CAPA, AIFS, and SIT through their Access Partner Program, to reach students studying abroad through a myriad of organizations.

The Intern Group awards grants to outstanding candidates. We are looking for people who are ambitious, global-minded and live our organization’s values: teamwork, global leadership, continuous learning and people focus.

STEM

ABC Humane Wildlife Academic Scholarship – Women In STEM

This scholarship was created by Urban Wildlife Manager Rebecca Fyffe, an entrepreneur who is unique in her industry as a female business owner, as only 3% of pest control & management firms are owned by women. One (1) award of $1,000 will be granted to the top essay submitted, and up to nine other students may receive awards for their submissions.

Deadline: Winners will be selected by the ABC Wildlife team after the deadline of 7/1/2020.

Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program

The Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program is open to underrepresented, low-income and first-generation college-bound students. Students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time in transportation, math, science, engineering, architecture, environmental design, PreMed, psychology, Spanish language/literature. The applicant does not have to be a U.S. citizen but must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and proof of attending college beginning in the fall semester. Exxonmobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarship

The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships were established to encourage minority students to pursue college degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. The scholarship program was created in 2010 by Dr. Bernard Harris, a former astronaut, physician, and businessman, and ExxonMobil to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Each spring, $5,000 scholarships are awarded to two African American and two Hispanic students currently completing their senior year of high school in a member district of the Council of the Great City Schools. ACHE Albert W. Dent Graduate Student Scholarship

The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Albert W. Dent, the first African-American Fellow of ACHE. This scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to minority students in healthcare management graduate programs to help offset tuition costs, student loans and expenses. AMS Minority Scholarship

The AMS Minority Scholarships will award funding to minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students. Funding for the scholarships is provided by industry and through donations made by members to the AMS 100th Anniversary Program. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is committed to, and benefits from the full and equitable participation of a diverse community. AMS is committed to advancing core values of diversity, inclusion, and equity across all aspects of the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences.

American Pavillion Annual General Education Scholarship

American Pavilion is devoted to supporting general education and is delighted to announce that we are now offering an annual $1,000 scholarship.

Deadline: July 1, 2020 is the deadline to apply for this annual scholarship.

Employment BOOST College Scholarships

One scholarship is open to students studying any major and is also eligible for students who are currently undecided about their course of study. The second scholarship is available to students who will major or are majoring in business or STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math).

Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round, with quarterly deadlines of April 1st, July 1st, October 1st, and January 1st and must be received within the time frame to be considered eligible to be awarded that quarter.

Bookoo Scholarship

The $1,000 Bookoo Scholarship.We are strong advocates of continued education and scholarships have helped us personally in our own college education. We’d like others to benefit as well.

Deadline: Applications are due by Dec 1st for Winter semesters and July 1st for Fall semesters

Goldman Sachs Scholarship for Excellence

The Goldman Sachs Scholarship for Excellence is available to Black, Latino, and Native American undergraduate students who are interested in the financial services industry. You must have a minimum 3.4 GPA, demonstrate team – oriented leadership, and be involved in service to your campus and / or community to be eligible for this award.

Intel Scholarship 

Through the collaborative partnership with UNCF, Intel Corporation has established a scholarship program that helps ensure educational access and the reduction of the financial burden of attending college for talented students in need. In addition, UNCF works with Intel to identify qualified scholarship candidates who could potentially become future interns at Intel.
