Many HLLC students grew up in Newark, rooted in a diverse, urban community that has shaped who they are and what they have to offer. Yet all HLLC students call Newark “home” throughout their college years, embracing the community as their own and gathering from it, through part-time employment, volunteering, community service and attending groups, organizations and houses of worship. HLLC students have full access to Newark’s unique mix of diverse cultures, ethnic cuisine, corporate opportunities, open spaces, the arts, and a major transportation hub – all while attending an institution of learning that is well-respected and embraced within the community.
