Celebrating the Class of 2026: Graduate Reception & Community Awards

The Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC) at Rutgers University–Newark proudly celebrated the Class of 2026 during its annual Graduate Reception & Community Awards Ceremony on May 6, 2026, at the HLLC. Faculty, staff, community partners, and fellow scholars gathered to honor the achievements, leadership, and lasting impact of HLLC students across campus and throughout the Newark community.

The celebration recognized graduating scholars and student leaders for their accomplishments in academic excellence, community engagement, social justice advocacy, resilience, emerging leadership, campus impact, and commitment to strengthening the HLLC community. The event also highlighted students participating in the Price Humanities Scholars Program and Prudential Scholars Program, recognizing their dedication to scholarship, civic engagement, and community-centered leadership.

The ceremony featured reflections from graduating student speaker Karen Perez, who spoke to the transformative experiences, challenges, and growth they encountered throughout their HLLC journey. Graduates were also presented with the HLLC stole, symbolizing their commitment to excellence, leadership, and the pursuit of knowledge.

The HLLC congratulates the Class of 2026 and all award recipients for embodying the program’s mission and values through their leadership, service, and commitment to creating meaningful change locally and globally.
