HLLC Announces Appointment of New Dean, Jason Cortés

The Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC) at Rutgers University–Newark is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jason Cortés as its new Dean.

Dr. Cortés currently serves as Chair of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at Rutgers University–Newark and brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, interdisciplinary scholarship, and student-centered academic programming. In his new role, he will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of HLLC, guiding the program’s continued growth and its mission of expanding access, opportunity, and excellence for students.

As Dean, Dr. Cortés will provide strategic leadership for HLLC programs, partnerships, and operations while working closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to further strengthen the community’s commitment to equity, civic engagement, and transformative learning. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for HLLC as it continues to evolve as a nationally recognized model for inclusive honors education.
